5 Reasons to Sleep on Your Back 500 333 Facercise

5 Reasons to Sleep on Your Back

facial exercisesBeauty sleep is everything! It’s essential for restoration and rejuvenation and helps you look and feel energetic and youthful. A good night’s sleep is the perfect complement to a consistent regiment of facial exercises and anti-aging skincare. To make the most of sleep, it’s extremely important to sleep on your back. Across the board, doctors and sleep experts agree that it’s the healthiest position to sleep in.

Here are five reasons why you should retrain yourself if you’ve been sleeping in other positions.

1. Sleeping on Your Back Protects Your Face

Sleeping on your back helps protect your facial skin against the formation of deep lines and creases. Sleeping with your face in the air is healthier overall and helps you avoid the lines that form when your face is smashed against a pillow. We’ve all seen those sleep lines when we wake up and prayed they would disappear. The reality is, if you continue sleeping in the wrong position, over time, those lines will remain.

2. It Protects Your Decollete

As with your face, sleeping on your side or stomach causes deep creases in your decollete that are very difficult to get rid of.

3. It Maintains Perky Breasts

Sleeping on your back ensures that you don’t put too much pressure on your breasts, which leads to sagging over time. It’s not very comfortable either!

4.  It Provides Spine Support

When you sleep on your back, your spine can maintain neutral position and you don’t force your back and neck into any contortions. In addition, sleeping on your back allows your mattress to provide support for your spine.

5. Sleeping on Your Back Fights Acid Reflux

When you sleep with your head facing upwards and elevated, your stomach will be lower than your esophagus. In this position, food and acid won’t be able to come back up.

6 Fall Foods for Anti-Aging 500 333 Facercise

6 Fall Foods for Anti-Aging

face exercisesThe sunny days of summer are behind us, which means the anti-aging foods of fall are here! It’s an excellent time to work on better skin since we’re outdoors less and there is so much antioxidant-rich food to choose from. So hit the grocery store, book a skincare treatment and schedule time for face exercises!

Here are some of the top anti-aging foods of fall.

1. Pumpkin

Pumpkin helps fight wrinkles while giving you a healthy glow. It’s packed with vitamin C, which boosts collagen production and softens the skin. Pumpkin is also one of the best sources of vitamin A, which helps repair sun damage such as wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

2. Pumpkin Seeds

These delicious seeds are rich in the essential fatty acids that help skin stay plump and hydrated. They’re also an excellent source of zinc, which promotes skin renewal and stimulates collage production.

3. Yams

Yams contain diosgenin, a natural steroid derived from plants that yields amazing anti-aging benefits. Their vitamin A and C content combats free radical damage and is anti-inflammatory. Yams are also good for your waistline due to their high fiber content, which fills you up and promotes healthy digestion. Their vitamin A content is so high that you can use them topically to help remove dark circles and reduce crow’s feet.

4. Beets

This colorful root veggie stimulates the lymphatic system, which flushes and detoxes our system. This helps deliver oxygen to your cells, resulting in brighter, glowing skin.

5. Pomegranate

This juicy fruit has long been considered a superfood due to its high levels of anti-aging plant compounds that fight wrinkles and sagging. Pomegranates contain potent antioxidant polyphenols that protect skin from sun and oxidative damage. Eating this delicious fruit ultimately improves skin texture, boosts elasticity and reduces inflammation. Their high water content also helps keep skin hydrated.

6. Brussels Sprouts

These dark green leafy veggies are loaded with vitamin C and other antioxidants that boost collagen production to improve elasticity and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. They’re also a remarkable source of glucosinolates, which helps detoxify our system.

4 Tips for Boosting Collagen 500 390 Facercise

4 Tips for Boosting Collagen

facial exercisesOne of the great benefits of facial exercises is that they boost collagen production. Collagen is an insoluble, fibrous protein found in our skin, muscles, bones and tendons. It’s the most abundant protein in our bodies and provides elasticity, structural support and cellular regeneration. Collagen literally holds the body together like a glue.

As we age, collagen production slows down. This results in sagging skin, wrinkles and the breakdown of cartilage in your joints. The good news is, there are ways to boost collagen production that result in firmer, smoother skin, healthier joints, stronger teeth and nails, and a reduction in cellulite and stretch marks.

Here are four excellent ways to boost collagen production and improve your overall health.

1. Boost Vitamin C Consumption

Vitamin C is renowned for boosting immunity, but it is also essential to the formation of skin cells. Studies conducted by Tulane University found that it increases collagen production and many other studies show that individuals who consume high quantities of vitamin C develop fewer wrinkles than those who don’t. Apply it topically with Vitamin C Complex Serum and eat vitamin C-rich produce such as oranges, lemons, tomatoes, red peppers, berries, kiwi and green leafy vegetables. You can also take a daily supplement, such as Ester-C, which is a gentler version of the vitamin.

2. Eat More Amino Acids and Lean Protein

Eggs, poultry and fish are excellent sources of both amino acids and lean protein that boost collagen production. Other good sources include bone broth and collagen powders.

3. Protect Your Skin From the Sun

The sun’s damaging rays show up as photodamage while depleting collagen under the surface. The result is unsightly, long-term damage that is difficult to repair. Wear sunscreen religiously every time you step outside—even if you’re just running to the store for five minutes. Apply it to your face, neck, hands, décolletage and anywhere else you want to have nice skin. In addition, eat foods that are rich in lycopene, which acts as a natural sunblock. Good lycopene sources include watermelon, tomatoes, papaya, grapefruit, beets and bell peppers.

4. Do Your Daily Facial Exercises

Facercising on a daily basis improves circulation and collagen production. It also prevents muscle atrophy, which results in sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

5 Ways to Turn Back the Clock 500 333 Facercise

5 Ways to Turn Back the Clock

facial exercisesSkip the fillers! Here are some excellent ways to complement your facial exercises program so that you can look younger and more beautiful, while turning back the clock.

1. Quit Using Straws

When you consistently purse your lips to sip through a straw, you’re causing wrinkles to form around your mouth. Drink straight from a cup or bottle to fend off those unsightly lines.

2. Avoid Smoking

This is the ultimate rule when it comes to better skin and slower aging. Smoking causes wrinkles around the lips and mouth, as well as crow’s feet from squinting to avoid getting smoke in your eyes. It also clogs pores and slows down cellular repair. Let’s not forget those old-looking, yellow teeth is causes.

3. Get Tinted Windows

Research shows that commuters develop the signs of aging more quickly on the left side of their face. Our driver’s side gets much more exposure to the sun, even when the window is closed. Tint the windows of your car to help prevent this kind of damage.

4. Use a Retinol Product

Retinol is critical for fighting the signs of aging, including hyperpigmentation, age spots, wrinkles and fine lines. It exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal fresher looking skin and impart a healthy glow. Try my Luxe Retinol serum for gentle but effective results.

5. Eat an Antioxidant-Rich Diet

Antioxidants help you fight the signs of aging and boost your overall health. They fight the inflammation that causes skin damage, pain and the development of chronic illnesses and diseases. Some excellent sources include grapes, dark green vegetables, artichokes, kidney beans, pecans, sweet potatoes, squash, apples, prunes, black plums, green tea and dark chocolate. Berries are also great sources—the darker the color, the higher the antioxidant content. Try everything from cranberries, goji berries and strawberries to blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.

3 Healthy Skin Hacks 500 281 Facercise

3 Healthy Skin Hacks

facial exercisesWhile each skin type requires different care, there are standard practices such as wearing sunscreen and doing facial exercises that work across the board. However, it’s important to go beyond skin care products and think about your system as a whole. You need to focus just as much on how you take care of your insides as you do your skin’s outer layer. For healthy, happy skin, it’s important to address diet and exercise. Our skin is our body’s largest organ, so what you do and eat directly affects the way you look.

1. Adequate Hydration

Dehydration makes fine lines and wrinkles more prominent while giving the skin a dull, crepey appearance. To achieve glowing, healthy looking skin, you need to drink adequate amounts of water and tea. Only drink alcohol in moderation and consume a glass of water in between each drink—and try not to have more than one libation if possible. Proper hydration will even out your skin tone and result in a smoother, more radiant appearance.

2. Proper Nutrition

A balanced, antioxidant-rich diet is essential to healthy, well-nourished skin. Make sure to consume good amounts of healthy fats, such as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. They help protect your skin’s moisture barrier, which thins as we age. This keeps toxins out while allowing water and important nutrients to enter cell membranes. The result is firmer, plumper looking skin. Strive to eat lots of fresh produce, which contains collagen-boosting vitamins such as A and C as well as other potent antioxidants.

3. Exercise

Working out doesn’t just benefit our waistline, it helps us achieve healthier, more radiant skin. Exercise boosts circulation, which nourishes our skin cells and keeps them vital. Increased blood flow provides oxygen to our cells, while helping to flush toxins and cellular debris away from the skin. Working out also reduces stress, which can cause breakouts and the squinting that results in wrinkles and creases.

Sun Damage Doesn’t Only Happen During Summer

sunblockWearing sunblock is an absolute priority—all year long! Damage doesn’t only happen during the summer, especially if you live in a sunny location. I am always shocked when Facercise clients ask me if they still need to wear sunscreen after summer’s over. YES! It’s mandatory all day every day—train or shine!

Here are a few reasons why:

UV Rays are Killers

There are three different types of ultraviolet rays that the sun delivers. It’s important to understand the difference and protect against each.

Ultraviolet A (UVA)

UVA rays have a longer wavelength that affect the deeper layers of the skin and are strongly associated with skin aging. They can cause permanent damage in the form of hyperpigmentation, sun spots, fines lines, wrinkles, and worst of all, skin cancer. Once damaged, it’s difficult and sometimes even impossible to undo the damage.

Ultraviolet B (UVB)

UVB rays have shorter wavelengths and wield damage to the top layer of the dermis. They cause sunburns, skin cancer, aging. These potent rays also lower your body’s ability to fight illness.

Ultraviolet C (UVC)

UVC rays are not well-known, but they are the most dangerous as they come from the highest energy portion of the spectrum. While they do not reach the earth’s surface, damage can be caused when using a sun lamp, tanning bed or laser.

Whenever we go outside, we’re exposed to these dangerous UV rays, even when it’s cloudy or snowing. In fact, snow and ice reflect nearly 90 percent of these powerful rays. Use our Protective Sunblock SPF 30 even if you only plan to be outside to walk to and from your car.  Apply to your face, neck, decolletage, hands—and anywhere else you don’t want to show signs of ages—at least 20 minutes before heading outside and re-apply throughout the day.

Protect Yourself in the Car

It’s important to protect yourself from UVA rays when you’re driving. These powerful rays can reach you even through tinted windows. Wear a hat and sunglasses, put your visor down, and consider using some of the currently trending driving gloves many influencers are using.

Build sunblock into your daily habits—along with your Facercise routine—and you will protect your skin and combat the signs of sun damage.

5 Tips for Your Labor Day Glow Up 500 333 Facercise

5 Tips for Your Labor Day Glow Up

FacerciseIf you’re trying to milk those vestiges of summer with Labor Day fun, then you’re probably ready for a glow up to make the most of the weekend. If you use our advanced skincare and Facercise daily, then your skin is already glowing! But there is no such thing as too much glow, which is why I’m sharing some tips to maximize your beautiful self.

The tips below will help you look gorgeous this Labor Day weekend and beyond.

Beauty Sleep

Adequate sleep is a must during the holidays! When you skimp on sleep, your skin gets dull and dark circles form. Your skin rejuvenates and repairs itself while you rest, which is why so many popular anti-aging products are designed for nighttime use. Figure out how much sleep you need on a nightly basis, make a schedule and stick to it.

Facial Exercises

Facercise firms and tightens your skin while imparting a healthy, youthful glow. Do facial exercises twice a day to prevent the signs of aging and improve your skin’s health. If time is an issue, the Ultimate Facercise DVD includes an eight-minute superset that is easy to squeeze in.

Exercise

This time of year can be hectic, which makes it tempting to ditch your exercise regimen for the season. Don’t do it! Regular workouts throughout the holidays make a big difference in your sanity and appearance. When you prioritize your workouts during the holidays, you’ll reduce stress and be less apt to gain weight. Exercise stimulates blood circulation, which contributes to your glow, and boosts endorphins so you’re happier.

Get Masking

Masks are an excellent way to boost your skin’s radiance. Our Face Lift to Go is an enzymatic treatment that lifts, firms and imparts an unrivaled glow. Use it once a week or every 10 days for vibrant, beautiful skin.

Hydrate Properly

Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine to prevent dehydration and dull skin. If you plan to consume alcohol at holiday events, have a glass of water in between each drink and practice moderation. Give your skin an extra boost by misting your face throughout the day with Heavy Water Spritz.

5 Reasons to Facercise

FacerciseFacial exercises are the best way to look and feel our very best naturally. They eliminate the need to get fillers or go under the knife to maintain a youthful look. Regular practice of my Facercise program will help you achieve natural looking results that trump any surgical procedure. Plus, there are no risks, side effects or downtime associated with a facial exercises regimen.

Just like the muscles in our body start to lose elasticity as we age, so do those in our face, which results in a sagging appearance. Facial exercises firm up the muscles that support the skin so that it looks more toned and lifted. People of all ages can benefit from Facercise, whether to delay the signs of aging or to resculpt areas, such as a double chin or long nose.

Read on for the top 5 benefits of a consistent Facercise regimen.

1. Facial Exercises Stimulate Blood Circulation

This provides nutrition to the cells of the outer layers of the epidermis, resulting in improved skin tone and color. Boosting circulation can also help combat the development of fine lines and wrinkles by providing the cells and blood with more oxygen.

2. A Brighter Complexion

Exercising your face can brighten up your complexion by giving you a nice glow while improving the overall texture of your skin. By delivering more oxygen to skin cells, old damaged cells are eliminated and the epidermis is better able to absorb moisture.

3. Facercise Give You a Natural Lift

Facial exercises boost collagen and elastic production, which results in a more lifted appearance. These two essential proteins help maintain the elasticity of skin, soften the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and smooth those sunken or sagging areas, such as droopy eyelids, saggy jowls and folds in the cheeks.

4. Detoxification

Facial exercises stimulate the lymphatic system, which helps flush the toxins, dirt and bacteria from skin and boosts your metabolism.

5. Relief From TMJ

Many studies show that facial exercises can relax the muscles that are linked to Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ), a disorder that causes pain and compromised movement of the joint and muscles surrounding the jaw. Exercising the facial muscles will stretch, strengthen and relax out overworked muscles and joints, resulting in decreased pain.

5 Benefits of Vitamin C Serum 500 333 Facercise

5 Benefits of Vitamin C Serum

vitamin C serumOne of the best anti-aging ingredients you can have in your anti-aging arsenal is vitamin C. It’s a potent antioxidant with a variety of benefits that set it apart from the rest. When used topically with a vitamin C serum, it offers unparalleled anti-aging benefits. When we created our Vitamin C Complex serum, we chose the most effective and stable form of vitamin C, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate. It’s the ultimate free radical scavenger! Regular use of this A-list antioxidant, coupled with daily facial exercises, will change your skin and your life!

Here are five incredible anti-aging benefits of Vitamin C Complex Serum.

1. It Protects the Skin

Vitamin C protects the skin against the environment and free radical damage like nothing else. It has been shown to neutralize and even reverse the appearance of damage caused by the sun’s dangerous UV rays, pollution and free radicals.

2. Vitamin C Serum Boosts Collagen Production

Collagen is a structural protein that gives skin its plumpness and elasticity. When it breaks down, it results in fines lines, wrinkles, loss of suppleness and sagging skin. Skin also becomes thinner when collagen diminishes. Topical application of vitamin C boosts collagen production to restore firmness, fight wrinkles and thicken skin.

3. Brighter Skin

Topical vitamin C brightens the complexion, revives dull skin and imparts radiance. It acts like a natural bleaching agent and can even improve those dreaded under eye circles. When used regularly, it results in a more even skin tone and youthful glow. TIP: Apply it all over your body, not just your face!

4. Vitamin C Combats Hyperpigmentation

Vitamin C can lighten discoloration such as sun spots, hyperpigmentation and melasma. It also protects against future sun and free radical damage, while treating redness and irritation.

5. Pores Look Better

Vitamin C Complex Serum improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of large pores, a condition caused when collagen breaks down. Since it thickens the skin and promotes collagen production, it also helps pores appear smaller and more refined.
