Tips for Using Retinol 1024 738 Facercise

Tips for Using Retinol

facial exercisesOne of my best-selling products is my Retinol Skin Conditioner—and for good reason. In conjunction with daily facial exercises and a good skincare regimen, it can be one of the most powerful weapons in your antiaging arsenal. It slows down aging by stimulating the production of collagen while boosting the turnover of epidermal cells to brighten your complexion and help prevent and exfoliate clogged pores. In turn this helps prevent acne and even out hyperpigmentation. Research has shown that retinol may even help reverse the formation of pre-cancerous cells in the dermis.

While everyone understands the potential of using retinol, many clients are concerned with using it the correct way. While my Retinol Skin Conditioner is very gentle, there are ways to avoid irritation and ensure effectiveness. If you are new to the product, build up its use slowly. If your skin is ultra-sensitive, you may want to use it every other night to start so that your skin develops a toleration. Once your skin adjusts, make sure to use it on a nightly basis.

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser—my Creamy Milk Cleanser is ideal for dry and normal skin, while my Pore Refinement Cleaner is perfect for oilier skin types. Your skin must be completely dry before applying retinol, so I recommend that my clients wait 20 to 30 minutes before application. All retinoids should only be used before bedtime, as they are inactivated when exposed to the light. Keep in mind that retinol can increase sensitivity to the sun, so it’s imperative to apply sunscreen after your regular skincare regimen (this is a must whether you are using retinoids or not).

With daily use of my Retinol Skin Condtioner, you will see results pretty quickly and will love the way your skin looks and feels. Click here for more information on my powerful facial exercises and skincare products.

Foods that Boost Collagen Production 500 333 Facercise

Foods that Boost Collagen Production

AntiagingMade up of amino acids, collagen is the body’s most abundant protein. While it is critical for our bone, muscle, ligament and tendon health, what’s most visible is how it affects our looks—collagen gives our skin its strength, elasticity, firmness and suppleness. It helps our skin cells renew themselves and fights off the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. In short, it’s key to looking youthful.

While a solid antiaging skin care regimen and facial exercises can help boost collagen production, this important protein cannot be absorbed through our skin. The good news is, we can boost collagen production by consuming certain foods. Read on to learn about three foods that will promote and stimulate collagen in our bodies, and therefore, help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

1. Avocado. These babies are loaded with omega 3 fatty acids, which boost collagen production, decrease the risk of skin cancer and help keep us fuller longer—which is crucial for those following diets and weight loss programs. Avocados are also packed with vitamin E, which helps prevent free radical damage and fight off skin cell oxidation. In addition, avocado oil is rich in plant steroids, which helps reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and revitalizes skin cells.

2. Turkey. Turkey boasts high levels of carnosine, an amino acid that promotes elasticity by rejuvenating skin cells and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. This lean protein is also an excellent source of tryptophan, which is a mood booster and helps ensure proper sleep, as well as zinc, which has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces dry skin and promotes cell growth.

3. Citrus. Citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, strawberries, pineapple and papaya are loaded with vitamin C, which bolsters immunity and combats free radical damage. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can also reduce and prevent sun damage while decreasing the formation of wrinkles. Studies show that proper vitamin C consumption can even reverse sun damage.
