Tips for Using Retinol

RetinolOur new Luxe Retinol advanced skin care formula is here! In conjunction with daily facial exercises and a good skincare regimen, it can be one of the most powerful weapons in your anti-aging arsenal. Retinol slows down aging by stimulating the production of collagen while boosting the turnover of epidermal cells to brighten your complexion and help prevent and exfoliate clogged pores. In turn, this helps prevent acne and even out hyperpigmentation. Research has shown that retinol may even help reverse the formation of pre-cancerous cells in the dermis.

While it’s easy to understand the benefits of using retinol, many clients are concerned with using it the correct way. Read on for some excellent tips for maximizing it effectiveness.

Build Up Use Slowly

While our Luxe Retinol formula is very gentle, there are ways to avoid irritation and ensure effectiveness. If you are new to the product, build up its use slowly. If your skin is ultra-sensitive, you may want to use it every other night to start so that your skin develops a toleration. Once your skin adjusts, make sure to use it on a nightly basis.

Use Complementary Skin Care Products

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser—my Creamy Milk Cleanser is ideal for dry and normal skin, while my Pore Refinement Cleaner is perfect for oilier skin types. Your skin must be completely dry before applying retinol, so I recommend that my clients wait 20 to 30 minutes before application. All retinoids should only be used before bedtime, as they are inactivated when exposed to the light.

Prioritize Sunscreen

Keep in mind that retinol can increase sensitivity to the sun, so it’s imperative to apply sunscreen after your regular skincare regimen. This is a must whether you are using retinoids or not!

With daily use of our new Luxe Retinol formula, you will see fast results and will absolutely love the way your skin looks and feels!

5 Tips for Reducing Cellulite 500 334 Facercise

5 Tips for Reducing Cellulite

reducing celluliteMany of us suffer from the unsightly condition called cellulite, which is one of the reasons I created No Lipo Lipo. This stubborn “cottage cheese” appearance appears on the skin on our legs, glutes, arms and stomach. It’s stubborn and difficult, which is why many are driven to try risky, expensive procedures for reducing cellulite.

Save your money and avoid the side effects associated with surgery—and the unpredictable results—with the natural techniques below.

1. Dry Brush Regularly

Dry brushing with one of our Sisal louffas from Germany is an excellent way to break up the connective tissue and detox the skin. It also boosts the lymphatic system, which helps eliminate toxins from the body. Dry brushing also stimulates circulation, which facilitates the delivery of oxygen to the cells and helps prevent cellulite. We have a new Louffa Bundle for Face & Body that will help you target all your trouble spots, from head to toe.

2. Hydrate Properly

Drink plenty of water and tea! Hydration plumps up the skin, which smooths and reduces the appearance of cellulite. It flushes the toxins trapped underneath the skin’s layers of fat that give the skin a bumpy look and plumps up skin cells.

3. Cut Out the Whites

Refined sugars and simple carbs contribute to the formation of cellulite, while a healthy diet helps prevent it. As a rule, avoid white food like bread, rice and baked goods made with refined white sugar. Eat a diet rich in lean protein, fiber and antioxidants.

4. Do No Lipo Lipo Regularly

My favorite cure for stubborn cellulite is No Lipo Lipo. You can perform this on yourself using the No Lipo Lipo DVD. It’s the best routine you will ever add to your regimen.

5. Apply Vitamin C Serum

My clients experience marked results from applying our Vitamin C Complex Serum to bumpy areas. This may help smooth the skin, boost collagen and reduce the appearance of cellulite with regular use.

11 Anti-Aging Habits That Will Change Your Beauty Game 500 257 Facercise

11 Anti-Aging Habits That Will Change Your Beauty Game

facial exercisesGood habits are everything when it comes to looking and feeling your very best. Many studies show that how you stave off the signs of aging isn’t entirely dependent on genetics. In fact, lifestyle, environment and our skincare regimen play a significant role. From wearing sunscreen and getting facials to doing facial exercises every day, there are habits to master that will help prevent the signs of aging while imparting a beautiful glow.

Incorporate some of the habits below to maintain your youthful good looks.

1. Hydrate Properly

Drink plenty of water and green tea to hydrate your skin from the inside out. This helps maintain a dewy glow and can plump up the fines lines dehydration causes.

2. Live a Clean Lifestyle

Eat a healthy, antioxidant-rich die. Choose lean protein, whole grains and lots of colorful fruits and veggies. If you must drink alcohol, do so moderately.

3. Wear Sunscreen

Protect your skin from exposure to the sun’s harsh UV rays that cause wrinkles, deplete collagen stores and cause the formation of sun spots and hyperpigmentation. Apply sunblock to your skin every single day, no matter what the weather is like.

4. Rock Sunglasses

Sunglasses help prevent the squinting that leads to Crow’s feet while shielding the fragile skin from the sun’s dangerous rays. For next level protection, opt for lenses with a UV400 protection label, which can block 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays.

5. Incorporate Vitamin C

Consume a vitamin C-rich diet and apply a serum like our Vitamin C Complex Serum to combat damage from the sun and other environmental stressors.

6. Don’t Smoke

Smoking ages skin fast and ruthlessly. It dulls the complexion, clogs pores and depletes the oxygen supply. It causes deep vertical lines around the mouth and Crow’s feet. Smoking also breaks down collagen, which gives skin its elasticity and slows healing. It’s one of the worst things you can do to your skin.

7. Don’t Frown

Avoids frowning, squinting and making other facial movements that cause fine lines and wrinkles to form. When you frown repetitively, it causes angry looking creases like the dreaded brow furrow, also known as the “Elevens.”

8. Reduce Stress

Stress takes a serious toll on your skin. Make it a point to engage in activities that minimize its impact. Some excellent options include working out, yoga or Pilates, meditation, reading or getting a massage.

9. Sleep on Your Back

When you sleep on your stomach or your side, it causes deep folds and wrinkles on your face, neck and decolletage.  Sleep on our back to prevent these lines and to promote a healthy spine.

10. Do Facial Exercises

Facercise smooths wrinkles and promotes collagen production while firming and lifting the skin. Facial exercises also boost circulation, which imparts a youthful glow.

11. Work Out

Physical exercise is essential to promote better health and skin. It detoxifies our bodies, reduces stress, helps build muscle mass and boosts circulation, which facilitates the delivery of oxygen to our cells.

5 Benefits of Masking 500 333 Facercise

5 Benefits of Masking

facial exercisesMasking is an excellent complement to your skin care routine and facial exercises. Masks have had a resurgence in popularity recently—just take a look at Instagram. Everyone from pre-teens and stay-at-home moms to celebrities and CEOs post images of themselves rocking masks on social media. The benefits of masking can be immediate and long-lasting, especially when you choose the right type. Our favorite is Face Lift to Go, which imparts a multitude of benefits.

Read on to learn about five benefits of masking.

1. Deep Cleansing

Masks can deep cleanse and draw out toxins and impurities that clog pores and cause blemishes. A good mask can also speed up recovery from a breakout and prevent future ones. Face Lift to Go does all this while improving and refining the appearance of pores.

2. Hydration

Dehydrated skin benefits immensely from a moisturizing mask. The hydration provided by a moisture mask smooths out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while plumping up skin cells. Skin also feels softer and refreshed after using a moisture-rich mask.

3. Exfoliation

Exfoliation is key for eliminating the dead skin cells that cause acne breakouts and dull skin. Face Lift to Go exfoliates with natural enzymes to slough the excess cells and impart a beautiful, rosy glow.

4. Product Absorption

Regular masking promotes better absorption of skin products so that their benefits are maximized.

5. Therapeutic Benefits

Masking is like therapy—it gives you the chance to relax and meditate. It’s the perfect form of self-care! Make the most of the experience so you can maximize both the physical and mental benefits. Take a bath, light some candles, apply a mask and zone out. Make a date with yourself to mask at least once a week!
