6 Tips for Beautiful Winter Skin

Cold winter air dries out your skin—even when you practice good skin care and do facial exercises. The harsher weather can irritate and cause red, itchy and parched skin. Here are some tips for restoring and maintaining moisture in the harshest winter elements.

1. Step Up Exfoliation

It’s more important than ever to shed the dead skin cells that clog your pores and dull your skin during wintertime. When there is a buildup of dead skin, moisture cannot penetrate. Find a gentle exfoliant to slough away the excess and promote cell turnover. Use our Luxe Retinol serum on a regular basis for glowing, winter-resistant skin.

2. Lower the Temp

While it’s second nature to crank up the heat on cold days, it makes the air in your living space extremely dry. Find a cooler setting to help your skin retain moisture.

3. Don’t Skip Sunscreen

I always tell clients to wear sunscreen every single day, rain or shine. Even when it’s cloudy or snowing, the sun’s UV rays are out to get you (snow actually reflects the sun). Wear sunscreen like you’re heading to the beach on a hot summer day.

4. Quench That Thirst

Keep skin hydrated from the inside and out. Drink lots of water and replenish your skin with lotions and moisturizers. Pay special attention to your hands, which can dry out significantly this time of year. Apply lotion after washing hands and wear protective gloves to do housework, garden and wash dishes.

5. Go Lukewarm

While a hot shower sounds so good during cold weather, it strips essential oils from the skin, leaving it dry and parched. Use lukewarm water whenever you take showers and wash your hands.

6. Dry Brush

Dry brushing promotes exfoliation all over the body while stimulating circulation so that your skin glows.

These tips coupled with our life-changing facial exercises will help you look and feel your very best.
