4 Antiaging Tips for Hands 500 352 Facercise

4 Antiaging Tips for Hands

facial exercisesAs an antiaging expert, my focus is not just on facial exercises – it’s on helping clients improve their entire package. One of the biggest signs of age is dry, cracked, wrinkled hands. Despite this fact, men and women typically neglect their hands, even though they are constantly exposed to the sun. With all of the washing, housework, gardening and other activities we do, it’s no wonder our hands show our age.

The skin on our hands is extremely thin and delicate to begin with, which means they need serious TLC. As damage from UV rays accumulates over time, it causes unsightly sun spots and a breakdown in collagen. The result is hyper-pigmented, crepey, wrinkly-looking skin.

The good news is, you can undo some of the damage and prevent more from occurring in the future by following a few simple tips.

1. Use gentle hand washes.

Most of us wash our hands many times throughout the day, which is extremely drying. Be sure to use the gentlest products possible. Opt for a hand wash infused with vitamin E or another moisturizing ingredient. There are also exfoliating hand washes on the market that offer gentle cleansing while sloughing away dead skin cells. Avoid hand sanitizers completely as they contain alcohol and other dehydrating chemicals.

2. Apply sunscreen daily.

Just like you do with your face, always apply sunscreen to your hands, rain or shine. Your hands are often exposed to the sun even more than your face is. Even when you’re driving, your hands may be getting damage from UV rays through the car window.

3. Wear gloves when you can.

If you’re going outdoors for prolonged periods of time to garden or do other work, wear gloves to protect your hands. If you wash dishes, be sure to wear gloves and use dishwashing soap that is extra gentle.

4. Adopt a full skin care routine for your hands.

Use the same or comparable anti-aging products on your hands that you do your face. I advise my clients to use Retinol on their hands at night to rebuild collagen and serums and moisturizers during the day for hydration. You can also use my High Density Vitamin C Serum for a brightening effect.

Why Exercise is so Important for Antiaging 500 333 Facercise

Why Exercise is so Important for Antiaging

facial exercisesI’m not just a proponent of doing facial exercises for antiaging—I firmly believe that working out your entire body is essential for looking and feeling your very best. It helps you maintain a healthy weight, increases muscle tone, promotes healthy bones and boosts endorphins, which enhances your mood and overall well-being.

Exercise vs. Medicine

Exercise can help you manage pain and medical conditions as well as prescription medicines can. A Harvard study conducted in 2013 showed that regular exercise was as effective, if not more, than taking prescription drugs for an array of diseases and chronic illnesses including diabetes, strokes and cardiovascular disease. It has also been shown to lower the risk of arthritis and slow down cognitive impairment.

Increased Blood Flow

When it comes to beauty, the benefits of exercise are incredible. You know how you have that awesome glow after a workout? It’s because exercise boosts your circulation so that your skin cells receive nourishment in the form of oxygen, minerals and vitamins. In addition, this stimulates the production of collagen, which is responsible for the firmness and elasticity of your skin. Increased blood flow and circulation also stimulates hair follicles which promotes growth and gives us healthier hair.

Detoxification

Another excellent benefit of regular exercise is that it helps our bodies detox naturally through sweat. Sweating is one of our body’s methods of eliminating toxins and cleaning out our pores. Exercise also stimulates the lymphatic system, the network of organs and tissues in our body that transports waste and toxins.

Less stress

Stress and anxiety wreak havoc on both our skin and waistline by producing the stress hormone cortisol. Having too much cortisol results in belly fat and aging skin. Exercise produces endorphins that combat the effects of cortisol and makes us happier in general.

5 Ways to Stay on Track 4th of July Weekend

cellulite reductionIndependence Day weekend is here! For many, this means a long weekend filled with activities and get-togethers—and with that comes a lot of potential temptation. When you’re out all day at BBQs and special events, it’s hard to pass up that hot dog or hamburger or those cookies staring at you. Yet when you spend so much time and effort dieting, exercising, dry brushing and doing your No Lipo Lipo routine, the last thing you want to do is sabotage all your hard work.

The good news is, we’ve got some tips to help you enjoy your weekend without sacrificing your waistline.

1. Hydrate properly. Make sure to drink plenty of water, preferably with lemon, to maintain hydration all day long. It will help your skin look better and ensure that you don’t mistake thirst for hunger, which is extremely easy to do. It will also help you fill up before eating so that you don’t overeat.

2. Stay on regimen. Just because it’s a holiday, don’t skip your daily dry brushing and No Lipo Lipo regimens. They will help give your skin that healthy glow for any events you have planned and help flush the toxins from your body. It’s more important on weekends like these to stay on track with these body sculpting activities.

3. Get physical. Do what you can to stay on track in this department as well—if you can squeeze your normal workout or exercise class in, do so. Try and get it in first thing in the morning so that your metabolism is revved for the day. If you can’t follow your normal routine, go for a walk, swim or run to make up for some of the extra calories you may consume this holiday weekend.

4. Don’t go anywhere hungry. The worst thing you can do is skip meals and head out on an empty stomach—you will be sure to overeat. Instead, eat a healthy, protein-rich breakfast and have healthy snacks throughout the day to avoid those hunger pangs.

5. Load up on lean protein. Lean protein helps fill you up and promotes healthy digestion. Head to the grill for salmon, chicken, seafood or a grass-fed hamburger instead of an unhealthy, fat-laden options.

Fat is Back 500 332 Facercise

Fat is Back

facial exercisesFor me, fats never left the plate. I believe that omega-3 fatty acids are fundamental to looking and feeling young. Avocados, eggs and salmon have done wonders for my skin over the years—I swear by them. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids fill you up longer, promote that youthful glow, improve cardiovascular health, reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen and elastin production. I truly believe that a healthy diet is the perfect complement to a daily regimen of facial exercises.

Remember all the low-fat diets of the ‘90s? Foods were labeled “low-fat” and filled with sugar and other unhealthy components to make up for the lack of taste. The result was a population in the United States that was fatter than ever.

Over the last few years, many renowned doctors and publications finally backed up the theory of the importance of healthy fats in our diets. The New York Times posited: “Butter is Back. Julia Child, goddess of fat, is beaming somewhere.” Time Magazine featured butter on its cover with the headline “Eat Butter. Scientists labeled fat the enemy. Why they were wrong.” In March 2014, the Annals of Internal Medicine featured an article that reported a pretty groundbreaking fact: eating less saturated fat doesn’t lower the risk of heart disease.

So the fact is, fats aren’t that bad for us—at all. While it’s important to practice moderation with everything we consume, fatty acids are an essential part of a healthy diet. Try to eat whole foods as opposed to processed foods as much as possible, and keep the refined carbs to a minimum (I don’t touch carbs after 5 pm). Enjoy that croissant every once in a while, absolutely eat the egg yolk, indulge with cream in your coffee and consume delicious salmon, tuna and other seafood that’s rich in healthy fats on a regular basis.

When you eat less processed foods and refined carbs, and more whole foods and omega-3 fatty acids, you’ll see a different in both your skin and your waistline.

The Dangers of Waist Training 500 436 Facercise

The Dangers of Waist Training

body contouringFor the past two years, celebrities ranging from the Kardashian clan and Amber Rose to Kim Zolciak and Jessica Alba have shared their “secret” to an hourglass figure—the waist trainer. The device is really a modern day corset, and there’s a reason women gave this practice up hundreds of years ago. While waist training sounds interesting, experts claim this trend poses many health threats—and we believe it. The only way we’ve had success with spot training and body sculpting is by using No Lipo Lipo and dry brushing, but the results are long lasting when you commit to the program, which really only takes a few minutes each day.

Here are some of the health risks you may encounter with waist training:

Compressed organs. Those who try waist training have trouble breathing because the garment squeezes and compresses your lungs. Even if the waist trainer doesn’t rise high enough to actually hit your lungs, it squeezes your diaphragm, making it harder for your lungs to take in oxygen. This can actually put you at rick for pneumonia or pulmonary edema.

Compressed ribs. There have actually been instances of women getting bruised ribs from wearing these contraptions for too long.

Reduced blood flow. In addition to making it more difficult to breathe, decreased oxygen flow leads to a reduction in blood flow, which puts more pressure on your cardiovascular system and can even cause blood clots.

Experts say it doesn’t really work. The worst part is, experts say that no matter how long you wear a waist trainer, you won’t lose any real fat around your waist. Your waist looks smaller when you wear it, but there will be no actual permanent results.

4 Ways to Get Red Carpet Ready 1024 738 Facercise

4 Ways to Get Red Carpet Ready

facial exercisesIf your eyes were glued to the Golden Globes or you attended them this weekend, surely you noticed the celebrity arrivals on the red carpet. It’s the ideal way to check out the year’s hottest fashion and beauty trends as well as the disasters. Either way, awards season provides inspiration for looking our very best on our own red carpet and special events.

Below are some excellent tips for getting ready for all of your important events of the season.

1. Exercise. Whether your event is tomorrow or two weeks from now, hit the gym or your favorite exercise class to get the blood flowing. Hopefully, you’ve got some time to prepare, because in as little as two weeks, you can see improvements from regular exercise. Work out the day of your event if possible, especially if you’re feeling stressed—the endorphins that exercise releases will help you feel more relaxed and your skin will glow from the increase in circulation.

2. Facercise. Do your facial exercises every day, twice a day, for best results. We like to do our Facercise regimen right before getting our makeup done the day of the event. If you’re new to the program, you can see results very fast—some clients start to see improvements anywhere from five days to two weeks, if they’re doing them correctly. Get a one-on-one Skype session with Carole herself to tweak your personal regimen and maximize results.

3. Get your ZZZs. Make sure you’re on a regular sleep schedule from now until the event. This will ensure that you get the most benefits from exercising and will help prevent those unsightly dark circles under your eyes.

4. Hydrate properly. Step up your hydration game the week of the event, especially if you tend to retain water. If you are feeling bloated, eat potassium-rich bananas and consider taking supplements such as vitamin E. Avoid sodas, overly processed foods and items with too much sodium.

Your Holiday Survival Guide 764 308 Facercise

Your Holiday Survival Guide

antaging skin care regimenThe holidays are in full swing and it’s time for us to enjoy ourselves. However, it’s easy to get carried away with all the temptations we face during this time of year—parties, alcohol and sugar-laden carbs, to name just a few. Instead of throwing caution to the wind and overdoing it, we’ve prepared a guide to keeping it together so that your looks don’t suffer as a result of all the holiday festivities. Read on for some quick tips that will keep you looking and feeling your very best when the New Year rolls around.

Employ a carb deficit. Let’s face it—you know you may give in and sample your favorite aunt’s pecan pie or other carb-laden treat at your holiday dinner, or drink a few glasses of spiked egg nog and hit the baked goods at your company party. Be realistic and set yourself up with a carb deficit—as in, cut back on carbs for a few days before each event. If you can, stick to my strict no carbs after 5 pm rule as much as possible.

Opt for lean protein. Choose lean protein whenever you can—it fills you up for longer and helps us build the muscle mass we need to burn more calories and look more toned.

Do your Facercises. Don’t skip your facial exercises just because it’s the holidays. You’ll want to look your lifted and firmest best for holiday photos and it will make sure you build on the results you’ve already attained. Try the 8-minute Super Set on the Ultimate Facercise DVD if time is short.

Don’t go anywhere hungry. Don’t starve yourself all day so that you can binge at a holiday party in the evening—this will slow down your metabolism and you’re bound to consume way more calories than you would have on a less empty stomach. Consume healthy, lean protein meals earlier in the day and have a handful of almonds, cashews or a cup of Greek yogurt before you go anywhere—even to the mall.

Lift it. Get you glow on by doing a Face Lift to Go treatment before your event. Your skin will be luminous and lifted for days to come.

4 Tips for Avoiding Thanksgiving Weight Gain 400 266 Facercise

4 Tips for Avoiding Thanksgiving Weight Gain

As enjoyable as Thanksgiving is, it can be detrimental to our waistline if we’re not careful. When you make effort to eat right, exercise, dry brush and do your body sculpting No Lipo Lipo treatments, it only makes sense to rein it in over the holiday weekend. The good news is, if you employ the following strategies, you can avoid holiday weight gain and still enjoy yourself.

1. Work it out. While it can be tempting to stray from your workout regimen during the holiday weekend, it’s one of the worst things you can do. Hit the gym or an exercise class every possible day this weekend, and if you’re traveling, make time to go for a run or walk. It’s essential for burning some of the extra calories you may consume and will keep your metabolism revved. Get the whole family involved by playing a game of football during the day or going for a post-dinner walk. You’ll get an energy boost and will be more mindful about overindulging during the big meal.

2. Focus on protein and veggies. Most weight loss clinics promote a low carb diet in general, and Thanksgiving is an excellent day to practice that mentality. Load your plate with protein-rich turkey and veggies with dietary fiber to fill you up. Leave a little bit of room on your plate for small tastes of the more fattening sides.

3. Bring a healthy dish. Whether you are hosting the entire meal or bringing a side, make at least one healthy alternative with less fattening ingredients. Nine times out of ten, no one will notice the difference and you’ll have a healthy option to fill up on.

4. Stick with your No Lipo Lipo regimen. This is not the day to skip dry brushing or your No Lipo Lipo self-treatment. This will make you more mindful throughout the day and less apt to overeat and you’ll feel better overall.

Renowned Doctors Tout the Benefits of Facial Exercises

ShapeBeauty experts across the globe agree that facial exercises are superb for tightening and firming skin, while promoting blood flow so that your skin boasts that healthy, youthful glow we all want. Facercise is touted as the premier, world class system that has dominated the marketplace since its inception over 40 years ago. If you haven’t tried it, then you must hear what renowned doctors and plastic surgeons have to say about exercising the 57 synergistic facial muscles with this incredible set of facial exercises.

Michelle R. Yagoda, M.D., a facial plastic surgeon based in New York, chooses the Facercise DVD as her pick, as quoted in the October 2015 edition of Shape Magazine. “Why not do tone-ups for the 57 muscles of your face? Facial exercise takes commitment, but only a few minutes a day.”

Plastic and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Francis Palmer promotes the effectiveness of facial exercises in his 2009 book, “What’s Your Number? The Palmer Code.” He states that facial exercises increase elasticity and firmness of the skin and can tone up the muscles in the eye area, cheeks and neck.

On his popular daytime show, Dr. Oz states that you can get a facelift without going under the knife and achieve clinical results simply by performing at-home treatments for laugh lines, saggy cheeks and wrinkles.
