Stave Off Sun Damage With a Hat

facial exercisesSummer can be brutal on your skin, even when you do facial exercises every day. Too much exposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays wreaks havoc in the form of sunburns, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and skin cancer. That’s why wearing our Protective Sunblock SPF 30 is absolutely mandatory, all year long. It should be applied 20 minutes before going outside and re-applied throughout the day.

You don’t have to stop at sunscreen. You can take protection to the next level by wearing a hat to block out the sun. It provides additional protection to your face, neck, ears and scalp. This is especially important since these vulnerable areas are where we are most prone to develop skin cancer.

Wearing a hat will shield these delicate areas and help prevent sun damage. Sunscreen is still necessary because dangerous UV rays can bounce off the ground and hit your face, but a hat will help fend these off as well.

Here are three things to look for when buying a sun hat.

1. Go Full Brim

You’ll need a brim with a circumference of at least three inches. This is the only way you’ll really be able to shield the at-risk skin on your face and neck. Unfortunately, a baseball cap or visor won’t cut it because they don’t provide coverage for your neck and ears. A full brimmed hat may feel strange at first, but it won’t take long to get used to it. You’ll be a hat lady in no time.

2. Choose Protective Material

If possible, opt for a hat made from SPF or UV-tested material. Don’t opt for mesh or the kind of straw that has holes in it. Choose the most impenetrable material you can find so that it blocks out all UV rays.

3. Be Secure

We’re not talking about confidence here—we just mean to find a hat that stays secure on your head. Find one that fits well so that you’re not constantly adjusting it and it doesn’t fly off your head in the middle of an activity. If you do plan on being active or exercising outdoors, you may want to consider a hat with a chin strap.

When you find a hat you like, buy a few of them so you can keep one in the car and always have one on hand. Visit this link to learn more about the anti-aging benefits of facial exercises.

Face Lift to Go

Why Face Lift to Go Rocks

Face Lift to GoWhether you need to get red carpet ready, prepare for your wedding, stun at a special event or just maintain your good looks, you can’t go wrong with Face Lift to Go. This mask is a favorite among my clients and one of our best sellers for good reason—it firms, lifts, detoxes and gives your skin that delicious youthful glow.

Exfoliation is Essential

Regular exfoliation is absolutely essential for a smooth, glowing complexion.  As we age, the natural process slows down, causing dead cells to accumulate and make skin look dull and uneven. In addition, exfoliated skin absorbs products better and looks smoother. Face Lift to Go is an all-in-one enzyme treatment mask that offers an effective exfoliation treatment that rivals the results of a chemical peel, without the redness, flakiness and downtime. It gently exfoliates and removes dead skin cells so you get the beautiful skin tone and color you’re striving for. Regular use also repairs cells, draws out toxins and firms the dermis.

Enzymes Make a Difference

Face Lift to Go’s effectiveness is primarily due to its enzyme content. Enzymes speed up the rate of chemical reactions safely and effectively but are not consumed during the reaction. The enzymes in this mask break down the keratin protein located in the upper dermis, where dead skin cells accumulate. The process is gentler than chemical peels, microdermabrasion and harsh scrubs, yet yields very similar results.

Use this game changing mask every 7 to 10 days for optimum results. This treatment is so safe it can be used the day of your special event, yet effective enough to really see and feel a marked difference. Take a break and pamper yourself with our to-die-for Face Lift to Go treatment.

How to Fight Sun Spots 500 333 Facercise

How to Fight Sun Spots

sun spotsIt’s the time of year when sun spots make their unwanted appearance. These unsightly discolorations are a form of hyperpigmentation caused by exposure to the sun’s dangerous ultraviolet (UV) rays. Sun spots show up on our most exposed areas, such as the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands and legs. Unfortunately, they can’t be prevented with facial exercises or expensive moisturizers. Even if you wear sunscreen daily and reapply it often, they can still appear.

Once sun spots form, they can be difficult to get rid of. Follow these steps to help prevent these babies from showing up on your skin.

1. Avoid Sun Exposure

The best way to prevent sun spots is to avoid the sun altogether. If that’s not possible, stay indoors during between 10 am and 4 pm, when UV rays are at their peak strength.

2. Wear UV Protection

Protect your skin by wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 every single day, rain or shine. Our Protective Sunblock SPF 30 is an excellent, lightweight choice that melts into your skin. Re-apply every few hours, especially if you’re outside. Apply it to your face, neck, décolleté, hands and anywhere else that you don’t want sun spots. If you plan to be outside for a while, wear sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat and clothing made with built-in SPF protection.

3. Eat Antioxidant-Rich Foods

Foods that contain antioxidants including lycopene and beta-carotene help protect against sun damage. Both of these nutrients act as an internal sunscreen, fighting damage from within. Colorful fruits and green leafy vegetables are good sources of these beneficial antioxidants.

4. Use Vitamin C

Vitamin C has antioxidant properties that have been shown to protect against UV damage and may even repair discolored skin cells. Eat lots of citrus and apply a topical product, like our Vitamin C Complex Serum.

5. Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliating removes dead, pigmented cells and helps the living cells underneath them rise to the surface. Use a gentle product and consult with a dermatologist or esthetician to determine how many times a week is necessary. An excellent way to promote exfoliation and cell turnover is to use a retinol product like our Retinol Skin Conditioner regularly. It helps resolve sun spots while imparting a dewy, youthful glow.

5 Ways to Sculpt Your Summer Body 500 333 Facercise

5 Ways to Sculpt Your Summer Body

body sculptingSummer weather is here—and there’s no better time to focus on body sculpting. While there are no overnight fixes, you can make a difference in a matter of weeks. If you follow some or all of the tips below on a consistent basis, you can build lean muscle, burn fat and appear sleeker and more toned. Your confidence will soar and you’ll feel summer ready. What are you waiting for?

1. Lean Out

Lean protein is key to sculpting your body and losing inches. It helps you build lean muscle mass, which makes you appear more toned and increases the number of calories burned every day. Load up on lean protein sources such as eggs, quinoa, chicken, turkey, beans, lentils, peas, salmon, tuna, mackerel and shrimp.

2. Build Muscle

Strength and resistance training are the best ways to build muscle. Many women are afraid to use weights and resistance because they think they will “bulk up.” Your goal is simply to use resistance and weights to tone and build lean muscle; doing some body weight and dumbbell exercises will not make you get too big. Try moves like lunges, squats, dead lifts, bench press and dumbbell curls and rows. For abs, try planks and hanging leg raises.

3. Burn Fat

Two of my favorite ways to burn fat are to drink green tea and do cardio. Green tea contains EGCG, a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to help burn fat. It also helps hydrate and flush the toxins from your system, which aids weight loss. Cardio exercise helps you burn fat and calories, while building a healthy heart and lungs. It also gives you energy, improves sleep, increases bone density and bolsters your mood.

4. Dry Brush

Dry brushing exfoliates and boosts lymphatic drainage, which flushes toxins and excess water from the body. This helps eliminate bloat and encourages healthy digestion. Dry brushing also boosts circulation, which promotes the elimination of metabolic waste. This can help prevent and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

5. Do No Lipo Lipo

No Lipo Lipo is a massage technique that you can perform on yourself in the comfort of your own home. It breaks down cellulite and fat in the connective tissue while reversing gravity and tightening the skin. Regular practice promotes weight loss and results in the appearance of a more sculpted, toned body. The No Lipo Lipo DVD shows you how to perform the technique on yourself so you can achieve your best body. Results are enhanced when performed in conjunction with dry brushing.
