Technique of the Month
Dry Brushing
Dry brushing is a truly remarkable technique which
should be included in everyone’s daily regimen. Our
skin is the largest organ of elimination on the human
body. It needs to breathe and be allowed
oxygenation. Removing the dead skin cells allows the
body to emit toxic waste. This is why dry brushing is
so important. It works from within. It assists the
body in breaking down cellulite deposits, improves
blood circulation and tightens skin, especially during
the process of weight reduction.
Dry brushing helps improve muscle tone and
prevents fat deposits from forming. Your skin will
start to feel silky smooth and your fat deposits will
diminish.
Dry bush exfoliation is best done in the morning
before you shower. This is easy because the dry
brush remains dry and so does your skin. You are
simply sloughing off dead skin cells. When you begin
the process you will be using a sisal louffa mitt. Sisal
is a strong fiber similar to types of hemp. The
FACERCISE® sisal louffa mitts and straps are
imported
from Germany and are the best available because
they last for years and years. These wonderful
beauty aides can be purchased on my webstore,
found at Facercise.com. Mine is over 20 years old
and still works as good as the day I purchased it.
The sisal louffa mitt and strap may initially seem a
little rough on your skin, but this is what you want.
As your skin gradually begins to detox, there will be
less sensitivity.
Brushing Technique:
Start by sitting on a stool or on the rim of your
bath tub. You will be brushing each section of your
body 10 times. Begin by brushing the bottom of the
foot with the sisal louffa mitt from the toes to the
heel. You repeat this procedure on the top of the
foot, toes to ankles. Then you brush from the ankle
to the knee, all around the leg. Proceed from the
knee to the hip and then all around the thigh. Be
sure to brush up the inner thighs. Brush with upward
strokes over the entire buttock and hip areas.
Repeat the same sequence on the other leg.
Brush waist line with upward strokes, front to
back. Brush the palm of the hand, from fingers to
wrist. Repeat this procedure on the back of the
hand, fingers to wrist. Brush upward from wrist to
elbow, front and back. Brush upward from elbow to
shoulder, front and back. Brush under the bust from
side to center of body in a semi-circular stroke. This
is all done with the mitt.
The back of the body presents a little different
procedure. You will use the louffa strap for this
treatment. Standing up, you apply the strap at the
back of your ankles and shimmy the strap up the
back of your body, up to your neck, in much the
same way as you would use a towel to dry your back
after a shower.
This dry brush exfoliation treatment is going to
make your skin so soft and supple that you’ll think
you’re back in high school.
